Having fun is serious business! Every month the board members get together to plan trips, social events like the Kick Off Party, edit the website, manage our finances, and address any legal issues. All members are welcome to attend the meeting. For example, you can present trip ideas, get details on our budget, issue a complaint, or just get to know how the club works better - Sitzmark is a business afterall - and we treat it that way! (Keep in mind that some topics are private, like disciplinary actions, which will be addressed by the board in a closed meeting.) If you want to know more about what's going on, please come to the meeting. Official start time is 7 pm and we try to end by 830, but some members may come earlier, or stay later to work on projects. Board meetings are held different locations each month, like a restaurant or someone's house, and usually include a light dinner or potluck. RSVP by registering here so we know you're coming so we can add you to the agenda, let you know the location, or contact you if there's any changes.

Sitzmark is offering group tickets for the Warren Miller movie! Price is $26.18 and now you can buy them online using our new website! (Login as a member or buy as a guest.)  Meet us before the movie at Crave for happy hour from 5-7pm to get your tickets from Sally.  Organized by Sally Hed Dahlquist sally@immunochemistry.com 612-554-0864. Learn more about the movie at: https://warrenmiller.com/film-tour

The fabulous show will be coming to the State Theatre (805 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55402) on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 7:30pm. (Doors open at 630pm for the expo in the lobby.) (www.skinet.com/warrenmiller/film-tour).

Sitzmark is charging $26.18 per ticket, which means you save about $15 instead of buying them through TicketMaster, which charges $9 service fee per ticket AND $8 order fee). If you're planning to come with a few friends, you can add them to your order and pay for everyone at once . If you're buying your tickets separately, let me know who is in your group and I will try to assign your seats together.

RSVP by buying your ticket online. To pay otherwise (such as with cash at the Kick-Off party), contact Sally Hed Dahlquist sally@immunochemistry.com, 612-554-0864 (and text) so she can process your payment.

Meet me before the show by 7pm at Crave or the box office to get your tickets. We are generally in the bar area - ask people and watch for "Sitzmark" logo or bandana.

In years past, ticket holders received a free weekday lift ticket to Lutsen, Welch Village, and others WI. They also received $25 off a purchase of $100 or more at ski shops.

Make no mistake that it will sell out: in the last 5 years, we’ve had over 40 people come to the movie and happy hour. There is a great feeling of ski camaraderie at the theater, and it’s a good place to meet other skiers.

We’ve opened the event to SkiHawks and other MSC clubs, so buy your tickets ASAP! if you're not a member of Sitzmark, you can still buy tickets online as a "Guest". Happy hour at Crave: Meet us before the show around 5:30 or 6 for dinner/happy hour/drinks before the movie at Crave downtown (825 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis).

Hope to see you there! Sally

    Details about Jackson Hole

    1. The town of Jackson elected the first all female town council in 1920. Wyoming was also the first state in the country to allow women the right to vote, serve on juries, and hold public office. This is why Wyoming is known as the “Equality State”!
    2. Jackson is home to the world’s-longest running shootout. Beginning in 1957, the shootout can be seen Monday-Saturday on Town Square to this day!
    3. There have been many feature films shot on location in Jackson Hole including: "Shane," "Rocky IV," "Django Unchained," and "Any Which Way You Can."
    4. The four iconic antler arches on Jackson Hole town square each contain about 2,000 antlers and weigh almost 12,000 pounds!
    5. Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) is the only airport in the United States that is located fully within a national park.
    6. Public, federally-owned land such as national parks and national forests makes up 97 percent of Teton County.
    7. One of our local ski resorts, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, has the longest continuous vertical rise of any ski resort in the United States. It gains 4,139 feet of elevation from the valley floor to the top of the tram!
    8. The National Elk Refuge is the final destination of the second largest elk migration in the continental United States (almost 9,000 elk). In the winter months, it is also home to the largest single herd of bison that is under federal management (over 1,000 bison!)
    9. Bridger-Teton National Forest is the largest National Forest in the continental United States. It comes in as a whopping 1.7 million acres. That’s bigger than Delaware!
    10. The state of Wyoming has the lowest population of any US state! The grand total as of 2016 was 585,501.
    11. Wyoming’s highest point is not the Grand Teton as is popularly believed, but the 13,809-foot tall Gannett Peak, which is located in the Wind River Range.
    12. The identity of Wyoming’s signature symbol, the bucking horse and rider, is a source of debate among locals. Some believe that the rider is Guy Holt on his horse Steamboat; while others are adamant the mysterious rider is Albert Jerome “Stub” Farlow.
    13. Wyoming is one of six states to have a state dinosaur… ours is the triceratops.
    14.  The official flower for WY is Indian Paintbrush. You will find this pretty red flower all over Grand Teton National Park!
    15. A 2016 survey showed that there are almost 700 grizzly bears living in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

PS, since this is the first trip we put online using our new website, please expect changes to the payments.
